NEOSHO, Mo. —
Neosho Arts Council’s annual fundraiser, the Sweet Arts Gala, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Neosho Civic Center on the square.
This is the third year for the semiformal event.
Arts Council President John Mills said the fundraiser helps pay for the annual Herman Jaeger Festival, two art shows, youth photography, and art classes and scholarships.
Mills said 140 attended the first year of the Sweet Arts Gala and there was a turnout of 200 last year.
“We pretty much had a sellout last year,” he said. “We had more than 40 pieces of art in the auction.”
This year’s event will feature an auction offering artworks by artists including Doug Hall, Jason Sacran, John Lancaster, Larry Clingman and Monte Toon.
Music will be provided by the Jack Mitchell Big Band, a 15-piece band based in Northwest Arkansas that specializes in dance music over a five-decade period.
Tickets are on sale for $50 per person or $400 for a table of eight. Tickets are available at the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce and at Mills Park Centre Furniture.
In case of inclement weather, the gala will be rescheduled for the following Saturday, Feb. 9.
A preview of the art to be auctioned at the gala will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Abstract Illusions, 113 W. Spring St. The featured artists have been invited to attend.
