CARL JUNCTION, Mo. —
Bargain hunters will descend upon Carl Junction on Saturday, April 27, for the town’s citywide garage sale, which officials expect to have more than 300 sites.
The event is sponsored by the Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce, which plans to produce a map with all of the registered sales within the city. Gary Stubblefield, chamber executive director, said Tuesday that the map is the most requested item on the day of the event.
“The map is the first thing that people ask for because they want to see where they can hit the most sales,” he said. “But we only have about a third of the sales listed because a lot of people don’t take the initiative to register. We are really pushing people to list their sales this year to get an accurate map for newcomers to the city.
“The city does not have garage sale fees, so a lot of people tend to wait until the last minute. But if we can get more people listed this year, it will drive up the sales, and the people that come to the city will see just how big this sale has become.”
The chamber will hand out free maps starting at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26.
The final day for registering with the chamber to be included on the map is April 22. There is no fee for being listed on the map or for holding a sale. To list a garage sale, people may call Carl Junction City Hall at 417-649-7237.
