MSSU to honor broadcaster, newspaper publisher

JOPLIN, Mo. — John David, executive vice president of radio for the National Association of Broadcasters, and Steve and Kathy Fairchild, former publishers of the Lawrence County Record, are to be inducted this year in the Southern Media Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame honors media professionals from the Four-State Area who have made significant contributions through their careers in broadcast or print.

David owned radio stations in Joplin from 1971 to 1988. He moved to the National Association of Broadcasters in 1989 and has also been named a member of the Oklahoma Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

The Fairchilds owned the Lawrence County Record from 1984 to 2012.
