Neosho considering city laws prohibiting sale of synthetic drugs

NEOSHO, Mo. — City laws prohibiting the sale or public display of synthetic drugs known as bath salts and synthetic marijuana will be considered by the Neosho City Council at its April 16 meeting.

The proposed laws were introduced on Tuesday.

Police chief David McCracken said one death in Neosho has been linked to the synthetic drugs. He said before a state law prohibiting them was approved, they were commonly available in several Neosho stores.

“They were very common among students in the high school, in the middle school and in the streets,” McCracken said.

He said it would be useful to have city laws in addition to the state laws.
