Tulsa teen being sought for Joplin murder

JOPLIN, Mo. — An autopsy has determined that 23-year-old Jacob A. Wages of Joplin was murdered and police are seeking a teenager from Tulsa, Okla., for the slaying.

Wages was discovered dead inside his home at 1912 S. Pearl Ave. on Friday morning. Police are not saying how Wages was killed. But two men, Johnathan J. Taylor, 19, of Joplin, and Cody E. Stephens, 20, of Parsons, Kan., were arrested this weekend and charged with burglary of his home, and warrants were issued charging a third suspect, Daniel D. Hartman, 17, of Tulsa, with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and burglary.

Hartman is not yet in custody and police are asking anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to call their local law enforcement agency or Heartland Crime Stoppers at (417) 782-TIPZ.

The arrest warrant issued on Hartman carries a $400,000 surety bond and a $50,000 cash bond. Taylor and Stephens are being held at Joplin City Jail on surety bonds of $50,000 each and cash bonds of $5,000 each.
