JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Joplin Board of Education will meet in a special session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Conference Room W106 at College Heights Christian Church, 4311 E. Newman Road.
Board members will discuss the tax increment financing district that has been proposed by the city of Joplin as part of the tornado recovery plan. The school district is the largest taxing entity located within the TIF area, which allows cities to repay certain costs developers incur from the increase in taxes their developments generate.
The board also will consider approval of eight bid packages for East Middle School as well as a proposal to review cost estimates to relocate Joplin High School and Franklin Technology Center out of a flood plain.
