Via Christi to begin next week on $18 million surgery center

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Via Christi Hospital announced Monday that work on its $18 million surgery center will begin Nov. 19.

Crossland Construction Co., Inc., in Columbus, Kan., was selected as the general contractor for the 40,000-square-foot addition — the hospital’s largest expansion project to date.

“This is a very exciting day for our ministry and our health system as a whole,” Randy Cason said Monday. He is president and chief executive officer of Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

The surgery center will feature five operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms, pre- and post-operating and recovery rooms, and a room for minor procedures.

The timeline for completion of the new surgery center at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg is 18 to 24 months, according to the hospital’s public relations director, Michael Hayslip.
