Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place late Monday night in Miami, Okla.

Police Chief Gary Anderson said a young man was stabbed during an apparent break-in about 11:30 p.m. at a residence on the southeast side of town. The victim was taken to Miami Baptist Hospital, where he subsequently died.

Police were not yet releasing the name of the victim at 2 p.m. today.

Anderson said some people who were breaking into the residence apparently got in a fight with people inside. He said all those involved in the incident were in their 20s. He declined to discuss the number of people involved, how many times the victim was stabbed and in what part of his body or the weapon used.

He said more information would be released later in the day or on Wednesday. The police chief said no one has been taken into custody as yet in connection with the stabbing.
