Water company worker killed in construction accident

JOPLIN, Mo. — A Missouri-American Water Company employee died from an injury sustained Wednesday at a work site at 25th Street and Moffet Avenue.

Jasper County Coroner Rob Chappel said Robert W. Clark, 40, of Baxter Springs, Kan., was taken by co-workers to the emergency room of St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His body was taken to the Derfelt Funeral Home in Baxter Springs.

Clark reportedly was working on a water main when a saw kicked back on him and severely cut him.
