NEOSHO, Mo. — Newton County authorities are looking for a Vietnam War veteran who wandered away last week from his Stark City home.
Sheriff Ken Copeland said no foul play is suspected in the case. He said Ernest Jensen suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Jensen was last seen walking into the woods near his home on Vixen Road at about 3:30 a.m. March 3, Copeland said.
The sheriff said Jensen has disappeared from his home before, but he has never been gone this long before.
Authorities have searched the area around Jensen’s home, employing dogs, a helicopter and vehicles, Copeland said. Area fire departments also searched the area.
“That has been exhausted,” the sheriff said.
Officers on Wednesday were calling area homeless shelters and veterans hospitals.
Copeland said authorities are asking that anyone with information about Jensen call the Sheriff’s Department at 417-451-8300.
