Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Ezekiel "Zeke" Tarrant, senior biology and biochemistry major from Joplin, as the new student representative to the Board of Governors at Missouri Southern State University.
Tarrant is a 2006 graduate of Webb City High School.
He is currently president of the Biology Club at Southern. From 2008-2009, he served as the club's vice president. Tarrant is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society.
Tarrant's appointment is subject to approval by the Missouri General Assembly.
