ST. LOUIS —
Homebrewers who made hundreds of gallons of beer for a festival in St. Louis this weekend are going to have to find something else to do with it.
St. Louis Excise Commissioner Robert Kraiberg said Monday that it would be illegal to serve homebrewed beer from unlicensed brewers at the St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports members of homebrew clubs say they had more than 1,000 gallons of beer kegged and ready to tap at the festival.
Schlafly CEO Dan Kopman says the state legislature might need to change laws to allow homebrewed beers at paid beer festivals.
Meanwhile, he says festival organizers will work with the clubs to arrange a free, private gathering where the homebrewers can pour their beers and discuss their hobby.
