A 20-year-old man is facing a felony weapon charge and several traffic violations as the consequence of a vehicle stop by Joplin police.

Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said an officer stopped a vehicle Friday on West Seventh Street near Connor Avenue for a lane violation and arrested Jimmy D. Smith Jr., 402 E. Zora St. He was accused of driving with a revoked license.

Niess said a police dog then alerted on the vehicle, and a loaded .22-caliber revolver and some whiskey were discovered and seized.

Smith was charged with unlawful possession of a concealed weapon, the license violation, improper lane usage, failure to wear a seat belt and being minor in possession of alcohol.
