MIAMI, Okla. — The cause of a barn fire early Monday in Miami had yet to be determined by late afternoon.
The Miami Fire Department responded at 1:44 a.m. to a report of a fire in the 1700 block of E Street Southwest and found a barn in flames.
Lt. John Turner said efforts to fight the fire were complicated by the sogginess of ground around the structure and an inability to get firetrucks in close. Firefighters were on the scene almost three hours.
Turner said no injuries were reported. Several bales of hay and a backhoe inside the barn burned in the blaze.
The owner of the barn was not fully identified.
