A Kansas man is facing a charge of attempted burglary related to an incident Monday night at a former girlfriend’s home in Joplin.

Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said officers were called after a former boyfriend allegedly tried to kick in the door of the home of Dorothy Vermillion, 43. Ronald D. Ferreira Jr., 39, of Baxter Springs, Kan., had left the area but was later found near Euclid Avenue and Odessa Street, and was arrested.

Ferreira was charged Tuesday by the Jasper County prosecutor’s office with attempted second-degree burglary.
