COLUMBUS, Kan. — Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old Scammon woman who is suspected of calling in a bomb threat Nov. 24 to the Cherokee County Courthouse.
According to a news release, the department alleges that the woman made the bomb threat in an effort to cause the courthouse to be closed so an acquaintance would not have to meet with a probation officer.
Sheriff David Groves said the incident was dangerous, an extreme waste of taxpayer dollars, and an inconvenience to county employees and residents doing business with the county.
The woman was being held Tuesday in the Cherokee County Jail without bond, pending the filing of formal charges.
