Missouri DNR find 13 of 66 permits permit holders out of compliance as part of Spring River Initiative

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has wrapped up its Spring River Initiative and found that 20 percent of the businesses and municipalities given permits to discharge into the Spring River were out of compliance.

All but three of those have been brought back into compliance this fall, said Renee Bungart, a spokesman for the state regulatory agency.

One of those cases has been recommended for more aggressive enforcement.

Bungart said DNR agents also are continuing to work with the two other companies that received letters of warning because of problems.
