SENECA, Mo. — Will Hembree on Wednesday was relaxing and spending time with family, a day after completing his 2,350-mile kayak trip from Cold Spring, N.Y., to Twin Bridges State Park near Miami, Okla.

Hembree, 31, grew up between Seneca and Neosho and graduated from Seneca High School in 2000. Now he lives in New York, where he volunteers at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

He said he plans to make a documentary about his solo kayak journey.

He said the weather was bad during his first month on the water.

“On the days it snowed on me, it caused me to question my commitment,” he said.
