NEVADA, Mo. —
A Carthage, Mo. girl was killed in an accident Saturday and four other Carthage residents were injured at 7:07 a.m. on I-49, three miles south of Nevada, Mo. in Vernon County according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Landry F. Hesse, 7, was pronounced dead at the scene. Also injured in the accident were Avery J. Hesse, 10, Andrew M. Hesse, 39, Kip A. Castor, 7, and driver Daniel D. Castor, 33.
Kip Castor was taken to Nevada Regional Hospital in Nevada with minor injuries, while Avery Hesse and Daniel Castor were taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin with moderate and serious injuries respectively. Andrew Hesse was also taken to Freeman Hospital with serious injuries according to the patrol.
The accident occurred as the vehicle Daniel Castor was driving lost control on the ice covered roadway and went down an embankment and overturned the patrol said.
