Joplin school board to begin discussion of redistricting

From staff reports

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Board of Education will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the administration building, 3901 E. 32nd St.

According to their agenda, board members are scheduled to launch a discussion of redrawing district boundaries for Joplin schools in the wake of the May 2011 tornado.

They are also scheduled to revisit the district’s Standards of Excellence, five broad objectives that are being used as a guide in creating specific improvement strategies during a long-term planning and review procedure.

The board will consider a $8.7 million bid from P1 Group, which has a Joplin branch, for electrical work at Joplin High School and Franklin Technology Center.

A closed meeting for legal and real estate matters and personnel issues is scheduled to follow the work session.
