JOPLIN, Mo. —
Cancellations and delays are being announced as a result of the winter storm warning forecast for tonight.
Freeman Health System has postponed the dedication ceremony for it’s Beacon of Hope Tornado Memorial which was to be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Freeman Hospital East dialysis center will open at 9 a.m. Thursday, a later time than usual.
A “Coffee with Carver” event at 10 a.m. Thursday has been postponed and will be rescheduled later.
The Joplin Sports Authority is pushing back it’s weekend NAIA baseball games in Joplin and Pittsburg, Kan.
The schedule called for teams to begin play on Friday. Their arrival has been postponed until Friday evening for play on Saturday and Sunday, if weather permits, or Sunday and Monday. The teams are to play at Wendell Redden Stadium at the Joplin Athletic Complex and at Jaycee Ballpark in Pittsburg.
A KanCare meeting at 6 p.m. today in Fort Scott, Kan., for Medicaid recipients has been canceled. Similar meetings across the state on Thursday also are canceled.
Schools in Neosho, Diamond and McDonald County have been dismissed.
There is forecast for snow or ice of one to two inches within 24 hours starting later today.
