CARTHAGE, Mo. — Robbery charges have been filed against two men accused of swiping a tip jar at a Carthage bar.
Casey Aaron Gouge, 28, and Scott Brandon Browning, 26, both of Carthage, were arrested last week after a Carthage police investigation of a strong-arm robbery the night of Jan. 5 at Jim’s Bar.
Sgt. David Strubberg said two men walked out of the bar with a tip jar containing $15, and a bartender tried to stop them. When one of the men struck the bartender, a man came to her aid and was assaulted as well, Strubberg said. The robbers then fled on foot.
Strubberg said warrants were obtained for the arrest of Gouge and Browning on charges of second-degree robbery, and both men were taken into custody. Gouge posted $5,000 bond and was released. Browning remained in custody Monday at the Jasper County Jail, with his bond also set at $5,000.
