QUAPAW, Okla. —
Downstream Casino Resort’s unfinished hotel on Wednesday was the location of an event to recognize the casino and the Quapaw Tribe for financially underwriting a documentary about the Civil War battle of Newtonia.
Steve Roark, president of the Newton County Tourism Council, presented tribal business chairman John Berrey with an award the documentary received, and a large photo collage of scenes from the documentary.
The event also allowed Berrey to showcase the hotel, which will open next month. The $52 million hotel has 152 rooms.
