No injuries reported in fire at Tamko plant

— The cause of a fire Tuesday night at Tamko’s manufacturing plant in Joplin remains under investigation by the Joplin Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a 9:05 p.m. report of a fire in the plant at 601 N. High Ave. and encountered “smoke and flames coming from a pipe joint and from a filter unit in a separate building,” according to a Fire Department news release.

Plant workers shut off dampers to the piping to extinguish the fire, with firefighters remaining on the scene until 10:26 p.m. No injuries were reported.
