JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Joplin Board of Education will meet for a work session at 5:30 p.m. and for its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the administration building, 3901 E. 32nd St.
Its priority will be to review and approve the budget for fiscal year 2014, which begins July 1. The budget, as proposed, projects total expenditures of $244.3 million and total revenues of $141.5 million.
Nearly two-thirds of the expenditures anticipated next year are related to the rebuilding of schools in the wake of the 2011 tornado.
The board also is expected to approve bid packages for the construction of safe rooms at Stapleton Elementary School and Junge Stadium, with work to begin this summer. Earlier this month, the board approved similar packages for safe rooms at Eastmorland, McKinley and Cecil Floyd elementary schools.
