CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage City Council this week received grants for the fire department and parks department, and authorized plans for a separate grant application to benefit the police and fire departments.

Accepted was a $5,000 grant from Dyno-Nobel Inc., for the fire department and a $3,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for a project in Central Park being planned by the Dogwood Garden Club.

The council also endorsed a recommendation from the council’s safety committee that the police and fire departments apply for a grant of $110,000 from the Missouri Department of Public Safety that, if approved, would fund the purchase of new portable radios.
