Fire destroys Joplin mosque

JOPLIN, Mo. — A fire of unknown origin destroyed the mosque of the Islamic Society of Joplin Sunday night. Investigators are on the scene. The mosque is located at 1302 Black Cat Road.

There have been two previous arson attempts in the last four years. The most recent took place a month ago on July 4.

The FBI and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the July 4 fire at the Islamic Center of Joplin mosque.
