PITTSBURG, Kan. —
Police have identified the victim of a shooting Saturday in a neighborhood on the southwest side of Pittsburg as Michael U. Tallie Jr., 19, of Frontenac.
Officers responding at 4:52 p.m. to a report of a shooting near Olive Street and the U.S. 69 Bypass located Tallie with a gunshot wound to his face. He was flown by medical helicopter to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., where he later was reported to be in stable condition.
Maj. Brent Narges of the Pittsburg Police Department said Monday that Tallie was conscious and able to speak to emergency responders at the scene of the shooting.
Narges said Tallie provided some “limited information” to officers regarding how he had been shot. That information led to searches of two houses less than a block away in the 1900 block of Kennedy Street, but no suspected shooter was found at either address, he said.
The investigation continued Monday without any arrest having been made, Narges said.
