Carthage police set two parties for kids

From staff reports

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage Police Department will hold two Christmas parties again this year to help a growing number of low-income youngsters have a happier holiday.

As many as 850 youngsters are expected to attend one of two parties set for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at Carthage Memorial Hall. Both events will include entertainment by the Duke Mason Band. The band also will hold a concert Dec. 8 at Memorial Hall to raise money for gifts for children at the party.

The Carthage police department has hosted the annual party for more than 30 years, with all costs paid for by donations. Those wishing to contribute can do so at the Carthage Police Department or mail a check to Bill Hawkins at the department, 310 W. Fourth St., Carthage, Mo. 64836.
