With summer almost over, enrollment has been scheduled for Joplin Schools. The first day of school is slated to start Wednesday, Aug. 15.

To enroll, parents can go to their child’s school during regular school hours. Students who are new to the district will need to provide additional paperwork, which can be found on the district’s website.

Sixth-graders are assigned to middle schools based on which elementary school they attended the year prior.

If a student attened Duenweg/Duquesne, Eastmorland, Kelsey Norman or McKinley, they will attend East Middle School. If they attended Columbia, Emerson, Jefferson, Royal Heights and West Central, they will attend North Middle School this year. If they attended Cecil Floyd, Irving or Stapleton, they will go to South Middle School.

If families were displaced by last year’s tornado and need to verify attendance, parents can contact the district offices or the child’s school.
