Neosho incumbent faces opposition from fellow incumbents working for opponent’s campaign

NEOSHO, Mo. — Neosho City Councilman Steve Hart is campaign chairman and Councilman David Ruth is campaign treasurer for Heather Bowers, who is challenging incumbent Councilman Charles Collinsworth.

On some issues, Collinsworth votes in the majority with Mayor Richard Davidson and Councilman Tom Workman, with Hart and Ruth voting in the minority. If voters elect Bowers, a former council member, next week, that could change the equation if the three vote together on issues.

Though the three say they have many common ideas, they all say they also are independent.

“Politically we have a lot of common goals,” Bowers said of herself, Hart and Ruth. “We have common agendas.”

“Buyer beware,” Collinsworth said of claims made in a Bowers campaign letter. “If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
