Jasper County Commissioners propose public nuisance ordinance

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Jasper County Commission this morning released its first draft of a public nuisance ordinance that it wants to implement countywide after a period of public comment.

In its current form, the ordinance targets abandoned and dismantled vehicles, litter and trash, abandoned mobile homes and noxious weeds.

Presiding Commissioner John Bartosh said legislators last year changed state law to allow Jasper and similar-size counties to take the action.
