NEOSHO, Mo. —
The Neosho Board of Education on Thursday decided not to pursue a bond issue election in April.
The board would have had to vote to place the issue on the April ballot by its next regular meeting, on Monday, Jan. 21, but members decided not all details were in place.
Thursday¹s meeting was a work session with board members, administrators and representatives from Sapp Design Associates architecture firm.
The firm¹s idea to build a seventh- and eighth-grade center -- which could in the future become the high school with additions -- appeared to have the most support. But the school district hasn¹t secured property for the project.
"I just have a hard time asking the voters for a school if we don't know where it's going to go," said board President Brett Day.
The board will scout out potential sites and conduct additional public meetings with the idea of having a plan in place for April 2014.
