Joplin City Manager, two Southwest Missouri legislators to be honored by Americorps

From staff reports

JOPLIN, Mo. — Two state legislators and Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr will be recognized next month by supporters of AmeriCorps at an awards reception in Washington, D.C.

State Rep. Bill White, R-Joplin, and state Rep. Charlie Davis, R-Webb City, will be presented leadership awards Feb. 11 by the  Friends of Voices for National Service.

Rohr will be given a similar award for the local effort to leverage the work of the AmeriCorps volunteers following the May 22, 2011, tornado.

The awards are given annually by The Corps Network and the Voices for National Service, advocating for the Corporation for National and Community Service. That organization fields AmeriCorps, which managed more than 150,000 volunteers who came to Joplin to help after the tornado.
