Protesters, upset with their lack of visibility, have been allowed by U.S. Secret Service agents to move to a location where they will be visible to President Bush and his motorcade.
The president is set to arrive at Missouri Southern State University at about 11:50 a.m. About 80 protesters wearing black and carrying signs turned out in response to Bush’s visit to Joplin to rally Republicans.
Students Daniel Bailey and Michael Baca joined the protest in black T-shirts. Baca’s shirt carried a picture of Bush with the words “International Terrorist” printed across the president’s forehead.
Asked if he considered the president a terrorist, Baca said: “I believe he is. Absolutely.” Bailey carried signs that read, “Torture Is Not A Family Value.”
Bailey said that the international community sees the United States “as out of control.”
