The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department today have identified the victims of the murder-suicide Tuesday at Monkey Island.

Detective Ron Teel identified the deceased as Sarah Smith, 26; Aaron DeForest, 34; Skyler Price, 4; and Joshua DeForest, 2.

Smith, Aaron DeForest and Price were found inside the home; Joshua DeForest was found in a vehicle outside, Teel said.

Investigators also found a note inside the residence, but Teel said he has not had a chance to review it.

Teel also said it appears that Aaron DeForest shot the three people and then turned the gun on himself.

Jessica Brown, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, on Tuesday said: “The estranged wife had complained about him harassing her to the sheriff’s office just a couple of days ago.”

Brown also said it was unclear why the woman had returned to the home.

Teel said Smith and her two sons lived in a separate residence on Monkey Island and someone at her workplace called the sheriff’s department to check on her well-being because she had not picked up her paycheck at a convenience store.

Aaron DeForest was Joshua DeForest’s father, Teel said. Smith was the mother of both boys.
