Since December, Californian Damion Maynard has been walking across America to honor fallen soldiers.

On Tuesday, Maynard passed through Joplin on a trek that he said will eventually take him to Washington D.C.

Maynard set out on his journey from Carson City, Nev., with nothing but a need to honor the troops serving in Iraq. He has now zig-zagged across eight states and covered 1,100 miles. He plans to walk a mile for each soldier who has been killed.
