ANDERSON, Mo. —Officials with Moark said they are planning to kill tens of thousands of birds who were injured in a fire at the Anderson plant Tuesday.
According to Jerry Welch, Midwest Division Manager, the plant will end up losing about 150,000 birds due to smoke inhalation and burn injuries in Tuesday’s fire. More than 2,000 chickens were killed after a fire started in an air compressor spread to two of the plant’s 10 chicken houses.
