Three men were detained after a fight that broke out Wednesday afternoon inside the Jasper County Courts Building in Joplin.
The fight took place shortly after 3 p.m. in a second-floor hallway of the building at 607 S. Pearl Ave., outside the courtroom of Associate Judge Richard Copeland where hearings were in progress. Several court bailiffs, Jasper County deputies, and Joplin and Carthage police officers who were in the building subdued those involved in the disturbance.
One man who was involved suffered a bloodied face, and an ambulance was called to the scene. Further details could not be obtained late Wednesday from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, which provides security at the building.
