Crowder College has received a federal grant of more than $1.4 million to develop training programs for prospective healthcare workers, officials announced this morning.
The grant from the Employment and Training Division of the U.S. Department of Labor is partly to address the escalating need for nurses.
The Crowder College program includes the following targets:
- Increase the number of Nursing graduates from its Nevada campus to a total of 50 per year.
- Develop an associate degree in Nursing at Cassville that would serve 25 students per year.
- Create an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Health Occupations enabling students with a certificate in a health support area (such as Emergency Medical Technician) to matriculate credits into the program.
