WEIR, Kan. — A dead body found Sunday in Weir was identified today as that off Hazel Shockley, a 47-year-old Columbus woman who had been reported missing since Jan. 31, 2007. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department confirmed her identity in a news release.
Shockley was last seen at a New Year’s Eve party in Weir with a male friend.
An autopsy was performed today. The sheriff’s department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate the death.
