A 26-year-old Joplin man reported an attempted mugging by a man attired in “Goth” clothing and wielding a knife.
Walter K. Cerateo told police that he was leaning shortly before 10 p.m. Monday into his vehicle, parked in front of his house at 2102 S. Jackson Ave., when a man grabbed him around his neck from behind and stabbed at him twice while demanding his money.
Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said Cerateo fought back, and the man fled without getting any money.
Niess said Cerateo suffered two cuts on the upper right side of his torso.
The would-be robber was described as wearing black clothing and having black-painted fingernails, Niess said.
