NEVADA, Mo. — The Vernon County Sheriff’s Department was releasing scant information Thursday about the shooting death of a Neosho man in eastern Vernon County.

A news release stated that deputies found 47-year-old Jimmy Duncan dead at the scene. The release identified him further only as a resident of Neosho.

The department’s single-paragraph news release stated that deputies were called at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday to the scene of a shooting death in the Dederick area, east of Walker.

The body was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, where an autopsy was expected to be performed, according to the release.

The release contained no other details about the shooting.
