The Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative is reporting that approximately 1,500 members living in portions of Craig and Ottawa counties lost electric service in the aftermath of Saturday’s deadly tornado.

Officials said that early assessments indicate 100 broken poles and scattered individual services systemwide. No substations or main feeders were affected.

“Our disaster recovery say early plan has implement has been implemented,” Rick Shurtz, manger of operations for the cooperative stated in a news release. “Damage in these area is significant, however, and has made initial progress difficult.”
