Officials of NCO Group and Best Buy on Monday announced plans for a Best Buy customer support operation to bring 350 new jobs to Joplin in the next year.

The announcement was made at Systems and Services Technologies (SST), a converted Wal-Mart Store building on West Street, where the new jobs will be located. The building, a former Wal-Mart Store.

NCO Group, which bought SST eight months ago, has provided customer support for Best Buy since 2005, according to Bob Corsi, NCO senior vice president of operations.

“This is a next step for us with Best Buy,” he said. “We think this Joplin location offers something special in a state-of-the-art facility and a top-notch community able to support a call center with a regional employment force.”

Hiring for the operation will start next week with job fairs set for May 20 and 21 at the SST location at 1717 W. Seventh St. Job opportunities will range from Best Buy agents to supervisory and management-level positions.

Depending on market growth for Best Buy.com services, another 300 jobs may be added in 2009, he said.
