GALENA, Kan. — Police on Tuesday arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine.

A traffic stop resulted in a search warrant being issued, said Galena police Chief Larry Delmont.

The man’s vehicle was stopped for trespassing on the city’s construction and demolition landfill, Delmont said. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a white, powder substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

The information from the traffic stop and from a lengthy investigation of the man resulted in a search warrant being issued for the man’s residence, a mobile home in a mobile home park on Roosevelt Street, just off Stateline Road. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisted police in executing the search warrant.

A woman at the mobile home also was arrested during the search.

Besides alleged drugs, authorities seized 17 guns and $2,297 in cash, Delmont said in the news release.

Formal charges are pending in Cherokee County District Court.
