GIRARD, Kan. — The Kansas attorney general’s office has charged a 74-year-old woman with depriving a dependent adult of more than $900,000.

Ernestine E. Anselmi, of Arma, was arrested last week by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department on a charge of felony mistreatment of a dependent adult. The charge was based on information filed in Crawford County District Court by the state attorney general’s office.

The information alleges that Anselmi took unfair advantage of the financial resources of Lena Zanichelli to deprive her of $923,897.07 by making payments to herself or others on Zanichelli’s checking account. The document does not further identify Zanichelli, except to indicate that she is a dependent adult.

Sheriff Sandy Horton told the Globe that Anselmi posted $50,000 bond and was released.
