A Springfield woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 44, two miles west of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Chimin Leong, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County coroner, authorities said.
Leong was driving a westbound car that ran off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned, the patrol said. Leong was thrown from the vehicle, the patrol said.
n A Joplin woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 43, about 10 miles north of Joplin in Jasper County, the state patrol said.
Christine B. Knapp, 32, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.
Knapp was driving a southbound vehicle and swerved to miss a dog in the roadway, causing the vehicle to run off the road and overturn, the patrol said.
