A Florida man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6:55 a.m. Friday on Interstate 44, a mile west of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Lawrence P. Roberts, 53, of Tamraac, Fla., was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital, the state patrol said.
Roberts was a passenger in an eastbound car driven by Owen R. Smith, 42, of Riverside, Calif., that ran off the road, struck a median cable and overturned, the patrol said. When the car struck the cable, a piece of the cable snapped loose and struck a westbound tractor-trailer truck driven by Cecil C. Givens, 58, of Mount Vernon, the patrol said.
n A rural Cherokee, Kan., man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday on Kansas Highway 126, a quarter-mile west of 130th Street in Crawford County, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department said.
Victor Williams, 63, was taken by ambulance to Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, authorities said.
Williams was driving an eastbound pickup truck that ran off the road and into a ditch, authorities said.
