CARTHAGE, Mo. — Authorities on Saturday were still trying to determine the cause of a Friday-night fire that damaged the wire mill operation at Leggett & Platt Inc. in Carthage.
Firefighters were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. Friday to the mill at 1225 E. Central Ave., according to Joshua Garrett, a Carthage firefighter.
The fire damaged the furnace and caused smoke damage to the building. No injuries were reported, Garrett said. The Carterville Fire Department provided mutual aid.
